Police say they are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a doctor, whose body was discovered with a medical drip in his arm. The doctor went missing over a week ago.

According to a police report, Dismas Dominic, 32, who was working at Ulyankulu Health Centre in Tabora region, had informed his boss and his wife on September 2, 2024, that he was heading to Tabora town to handle his bank account matters, promising to return the next day.

From September 4, 2024, he could not be reached through his phone, until September 10, 2024, when his wife and the head of the Ulyankulu Health Centre decided to report the matter to a police station.

On the same day, police say Dominic sent a WhatsApp message to his wife saying, “Please forgive me, in a few minutes I won’t be with you in this world. Manage everything I started, all the money is in the CRDB account. Take care of the children and make sure they go to school. Goodbye.”

His lifeless body was discovered at Kombo Masai area in Tabora Region, with an unidentified substance in the drip attached to his arm. Police said they are investigating the possibility of suicide.

“After that message, he could not be reached until he was found dead on the night of September 13, 2024,” police spokesperson David Misime said in a statement, adding:  “We are working closely with forensic experts to establish the cause of death,” he said.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that he had previously attempted suicide twice,” Misime stated.
